# Create an ad account and add a payment method

> The account campaigns live in — created inside your business portfolio

The ad account is where campaigns, budgets, and billing live. It must be created **inside your business portfolio** — Bidder can't work with personal ad accounts.

## Create the ad account

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Business Settings">
    Go to [business.facebook.com/latest/settings](https://business.facebook.com/latest/settings) (Meta Business Suite → **Settings**).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Accounts → Ad accounts → Add">
    Open the **Accounts** tab, choose **Ad accounts**, click the **+ Add** dropdown and pick **Create a new ad account**.

    </Frame>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name, time zone, currency">
    <Warning>Time zone and currency are **permanent**. Changing either later means closing the account and starting a new one — pick the ones your business actually reports in.</Warning>

    </Frame>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the owner and agree to the terms">
    Select **My business** (your portfolio), tick the box agreeing to Meta's Terms of Service and Advertising Standards, and click **Create ad account**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Add a payment method

Without payment, nothing spends.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Billing & payments">
    Go to [business.facebook.com/latest/billing\_hub](https://business.facebook.com/latest/billing_hub). With multiple ad accounts, pick the account under **Accounts** first.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Payment methods → Add payment method">
    Cards and PayPal become **automatic payments** (billed after your ads deliver). Some local methods (Boleto, UPI, and similar) work as **available funds** — a balance you top up first.

    <Frame caption="Billing & payments → Add payment method. The exact options vary by country; card and PayPal are the universal ones.">

    </Frame>
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Good to know

* **New portfolios can create only ONE ad account** at first. The limit rises to 3 after your first campaign delivers and a payment goes through, then grows with spend. Check yours under **Settings → Business info → Ad account creation limit**.
* **Closed accounts still count** toward that limit, and an ad account can never leave its portfolio — don't create throwaways.
* **Non-discrimination certification:** mainly for US advertisers, Meta prompts a one-time certification before ads are approved. If prompted, complete it at [facebook.com/certification/nondiscrimination](https://www.facebook.com/certification/nondiscrimination).
* **New-account limits:** brand-new accounts often face conservative spending behavior until Meta builds trust (delivered campaigns, successful payments). This fades with history — it's normal, not a problem Bidder can bypass.

## Next step

Connect it: back in the Media Buyer page, click **Continue with Facebook** and tick this ad account (and your Page) in Meta's permission dialog.
